Workforce Development
Working with Burning Glass Technologies again, Kari Arfstrom, Deputy Executive Director for Learning at NAST, lead the research efforts for the ground-breaking Public Finance Workforce Report. Released in September 2021, this quantitative study takes a critical look at the public and private financial sector to ensure a trained workforce for the future. The Demand for More Public Sector Finance Workers. Government Finance Research Center, University of Illinois Chicago. January 11, 2022.
As the former Managing Director of the HVACR Workforce Development Foundation, Arfstrom led teams of research consultants, including Burning Glass Technologies, to conduct the first-ever labor analysis reports for North America.
Three original research reports were conducted on the supply and demand of the employment and skills gap for HVACR technicians and installers in the U.S. and Canada. Released September 2015, the executive summary concisely lays out the immediate need for post-secondary schools to amp up their recruitment processes and for high schools, counselors and parents to encourage students to pursue these mid-skill jobs.
